It was early 2008. I was a marketing exec in a tech company and some of our cooler coding dudes started mentioning this strange new thing called Twitter. Our marketing department (of 4.5 people) was highly sceptical. We honestly just didn’t see how this could be used, and what the benefits would be – not just for our company, but for personal use. Let alone the fact that it was so silly to try and fit any coherent thought into 140 characters. And what the heck are hashtags?!
Fast forward to 2015, and Twitter, along with Instagram, Google Plus, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube are considered the top social networks for businesses to utilise in reaching their potential – and current – customers.
